L-Carnitine facilitates the transport of long-chain fatty acids in the cytosol of a cell into the mitochondria during the process of energy production using the fatty acids and has been used widely, for example, for diet, sports, antifatigue, brain health maintenance, improvement of locomotive syndrome (muscles) and infant food, etc. Although L-Carnitine is bio-synthesized in the body, the amount is not sufficient, therefore it is recommended to supply it by taking L-Carnitine-enriched food especially for those who seek for an efficient use of energy or the reduction of fatty acids from the body. People tend to be short of L-Carnitine due to two reasons. One is because their eating habits change to having meals with food containing less L-Carnitine and the other is because the amount of bio-synthesized L-Carnitine in the body decreases as aging. Thus, the development of the supplement of L-Carnitine itself or the food product supplied with L-Carnitine is of interest.
