Ox gall (lat. Fel Tauri or Bilis Bovis) is extracted from the gall of cattle, is greenish-yellow and powdery or liquid. It serves as a wetting agent that increases the ink flow on paper or parchment and contributes to the degreasing of substrates. It is also used as a cleaning agent, e.g. in the form of gall soap. It is also administered occasionally in cases of jaundice, gallstones, poor bile secretion and diabetes. Ox bile is said to increase bile secretion, intestinal absorption and intestinal movement.
